The Small Business Development Center (SBDC)

The Small Business Development Center's goal is to assist entrepreneurs, businesses and industries in the solution of their problems, which leads to increased productivity and profitability. By assisting new and existing small business firms, the SBDC contributes to the stability and growth of the small business sector of the economy of New York State.

 

St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency (SLCIDA)

The St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency (“SLCIDA”) is a public benefit corporation created under New York State General Municipal Law, Title 2, Section 914.   Its mission is to promote, encourage, attract and develop job opportunities and economically sound commerce and industry in St. Lawrence County. The Agency provides administrative assistance, services or shared management for a number of economic development programs, including the IDA Local Development Corporation, the Greater Massena Economic Development Fund, the St. Lawrence River Valley Redevelopment Agency and the Local Development Corporation's Microenterprise Programs.

 

The Agency provides financing packages and incentives for company expansions and locates or constructs suitable buildings and sites for development.  In addition, the Agency markets the County as a potential location for new business, works with local, regional, state and federal stakeholders, and consults with companies and local economic developers to align available resources to assist firms.

 

St. Lawrence County Local Development Corp. Microenterprise Funds

The St. Lawrence County Local Development Corporation oversees a Microenterprise Revolving Loan Fund (MRLF) and (as recently as September 1, 2010) a Microenterprise Grant Fund.  These programs were established to provide loan/grant assistance to low-moderate income persons in St. Lawrence County, New York to start or expand microenterprise businesses.  The primary goal of these programs is to stimulate the inception and growth of private sector businesses owned and operated by low-moderate income persons.  

 

Entrepreneurship Center at Clarkson University

Mission
Using a focused and action oriented approach to developing sustainable micro business, the Clarkson University Entrepreneurship Center will develop sustainable businesses through lasting partnerships between universities, government support programs and micro enterprises.

Vision
The Clarkson University Entrepreneurship Center will create an entrepreneurial model where students, entrepreneurs and communities make a significant impact in regional economies. This will be accomplished by leveraging existing and new resources in a focused integration of regional outreach, experiential learning opportunities, individual entrepreneurial support and strategic partnerships. Further, the Clarkson University Entrepreneurship Center shall be recognized as the national model for enhancing regional economic development focusing on micro enterprises.

Goal
